Posted Dec 21, 2017

Congratulations to Rod Marshall of Peterborough, winner of $500 in downtown money in our third Holiday Shopping Passport early bird draw.

Rod’s name was drawn Dec. 20 at the Art School of Peterborough at 171A Charlotte Street.

Rod spent some time shopping at Flavour Fashion on George Street this holiday season and picked up his $500 prize there.

The $1,500 grand prize draw will be:

Wednesday, Jan. 10

1:30 pm

Kawartha Local

165 King Street

This year there are more than 130 participating stores, restaurants, cafes, pubs and service businesses. For the complete list, visit:

“We’ve already had more than a million dollars in local spending go through our Holiday Shopping Passport program and there’s still a couple weeks left before we draw the grand prize,” says Terry Guiel, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Improvement Area. “It’s great to see our community supporting our local businesses.”

Here's how it works: every time you spend $10 at a participating business, a box on your passport will be stamped. When your passport is filled (20 stamps), complete the form and drop it off at a ballot box at one of the participating businesses. Each completed passport is a ballot for a draw to win downtown money. There are more than 100 participating businesses downtown.

The Holiday Shopping Passports program is run by the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area and rewards people for supporting local businesses by shopping, dining and enjoying downtown. Last year’s program saw shoppers stamp $1.5 million worth of Holiday Shopping Passports.
